• Sets a new European Cup scoring record for a British player of 15 goals, after putting 2 past Danish side Odense in the 1st round, 2nd leg at Anfield, surpassing Denis Law's previous best of 14.

• Becomes the first player in history to complete a league century in both England in Scotland with only 2 clubs, after scoring the 100th goal at Ipswich in November on his 259th appearance.
• Suffers a depressed cheekbone fracture in a collision with Manchester United's Kevin Moran at Anfield in January, and is out for 2 months.
