• Makes a 72nd-minute appearance as a substitute for Paul Walsh in the Littlewoods League Cup final against Arsenal, setting a record of 15 Wembley appearances with one club. Arsenal win 2-1.
• Makes his 102nd and final Scotland appearance in the 3-0 win over Luxembourg at Hampden Park on 12 November. Scotland was being newly-managed by Andy Roxburgh, the sixth Scotland manager of Dalglish's illustrious international career following Tommy Docherty, Willy Ormond, Ally MacLeod, Jock Stein and Alex Ferguson.
